Modern cartridge filters consist of a special fleece with millions of tiny passages. Dirt gets caught in these passages and is thus retained. If cleaning is improper, bacteria settle in the fleece and form a protective biofilm. Additional fats, oils, and skin flakes provide a food source for the bacteria. The filter then becomes a water polluter. Contaminated filters also cause higher power consumption of the filter pump and shorten its lifespan.

For these reasons, it is important to clean the filters thoroughly and regularly: Lotus Clean Filter Natural dissolves organic impurities, fats, and oils from the filter fleece. Clean the filters every two to three weeks (weekly cleaning may be necessary initially with Lotus Clean) and use a second set of filters during cleaning. The filter fleece loses its filtering effect over time. Even good-looking filters can then only provide poor filtering performance.

Application:

• Place the filter in a container and add half a measuring cup (50 ml) of Lotus Clean Filter Natural, then fill with hot water until the filter is covered. For larger containers or heavy soiling, increase the dosage.
• Leave the filter in the cleaning solution for at least 12 hours. Then remove the filter and rinse thoroughly with a strong jet of water.
• For an even more intensive cleaning, place the filter in a bucket with 10 liters of water and 20 ml of Lotus Clean Shock overnight afterwards. This will make the filter even whiter and also remove any remaining biofilm and bacteria.
• Replace your filters every two years.
