FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW SHOULD THE SUBSTRATE BE PREPARED?

  • In general, it is important that the hot tub stands on a hard and level surface, which can be, for example, a concrete foundation, a wooden deck, a solid gravel bed or laid stone slabs. We advise against placing the hot tub on a grassy area, as it can sink here, which can result in an uneven weight distribution. This in turn can lead to damage to the hot tub. Remember that the hot tub has a total weight of approx. 2 tons when filled with water and people.

WHAT ARE THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WOOD-FIRED HOT TUBS?

  • Due to the integrated combustion system, hot tubs are subject to the requirements of the Ordinance on Small and Medium-Sized Combustion Plants - 1. BImSchV. We point out that the limit values of the 1. BImSchV with regard to dust and carbon monoxide cannot currently be complied with during the operation of the hot tub, so that if you want to install a hot tub, you must apply for an exemption according to § 22 of the 1. BImSchV at the responsible immission control authority, which can be granted depending on the individual case.

  • In some federal states, the installation of the hot tub also requires a building permit. To obtain a building permit, the exemption from the immission control authority must be available. Please contact your local authorities and your local chimney sweep before purchasing.

CAN THE FROST MONITOR REPLACE THE WOOD STOVE?

  • No, the frost monitor cannot replace the wood stove to achieve the desired bathing temperature.

  • The main function of the frost monitor is to prevent ice from forming in the filter system and hot tub during the winter season. At temperatures below freezing, the filter system and frost monitor should always remain switched on. The frost monitor is automatically activated when the water temperature falls below the target set with the thermostat.

  • Filters, pump and frost monitor should be stored in a frost-free environment, such as in an insulated box, in a garden shed or under a terrace. Otherwise, the system can suffer frost damage if the power fails in winter.

HOW OFTEN MUST THE FILTER SYSTEM BE ACTIVATED?

  • We recommend letting the filter system run for 2 hours each in the morning and evening. It is best to set this with a timer. Only in winter, when temperatures are below zero, do you have to keep the system running continuously.

HOW LONG CAN I USE THE SAME WATER?

  • As a rule, a wood-fired hot tub should be emptied and cleaned after each bath for hygienic reasons. However, most of our customers have no problems using the bath water for an entire weekend. For this, some guidelines must be followed, for example, showering before bathing and leaving a cover on the hot tub in between.

  • An alternative is to equip the hot tub with our cleaning system as an accessory, so that you can keep the same water for several weeks.
